GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) -- At least two West Michigan wildlife groups are trying to help a duck with an arrow sticking through it.

A Grand Rapids woman spotted the duck Friday morning on the Grand River near the Fish Ladder.

The arrow appears to have penetrated the duck's lower breast area and comes out its body on the other side.

Representatives of the Grand Rapids Wildlife Rehab Center and the Circle D Wildlife Refuge tried capturing the duck Friday, but it flew away from rescuers.

Peg Markle, Executive Director of the Wildlife Rehab Center, says workers may have to wait until the duck weakens from its injury before they are able to capture it.
