GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.-- There will be no tennis lessons for children this summer at Grand Rapids City courts.

Seven one-week sessions at four different city parks have been canceled for "unforeseen circumstances" according the the Parks and Recreation website. The schedule for children ages 5 through 17 is listed in the quarterly "We Are GR" events flyer, but the partnership with the Michigan Athletic Club has fallen through,  according to Grand Rapids Parks and Recreation spokesman John Judnich, who has run the program for 14 years.

Tennis lessons were slated to begin June 17 at Aberdeen, McKay/Jaycee, Mulick and Wilcox parks and run through August 8. More than 350 tennis lesson hours were logged last year through the Grand Rapids Parks and Recreation program.

Judnich says they are looking for a new tennis partnership for next summer and may offer some indoor lessons this fall.
