GRAND RAPIDS - Founders Brewing Co. cracked the top 30 in the list of top 50 craft breweries by sales volume in 2012, which was released by the Brewers Association.<?xml:namespace prefix = o />

“These numbers come out every year. I’d be lying if I said we didn’t look forward to seeing how our needle moves, but what makes us most proud is that our growth comes without compromising the quality of the beer we produce,” said Co-Founder & CEO Mike Stevens.

Over the past five years, Founders has been one of the fastest growing breweries in the U.S. Despite expansion into new states of distribution, much of that growth has been in existing markets; the brewery experienced an average of 68% growth in existing markets in 2012.

“This is what’s most important to us,” said Stevens. “It means Founders is digging deep roots and that our brand is gaining in consumer confidence, which is a must for long-term success.”

Founders moved up 12 spots from its position as 42nd largest craft brewery in 2011.

“To a couple of home brewers that thought it would be fun to make beer for a living, we never would have guessed that Founders would be where it is today,” said Stevens. “We’re honored that so many people have demanded more and more of our beer so that today we sit at number 30 on this list.”

Founders is currently undergoing a $26 million dollar facility expansion in downtown Grand Rapids, Michigan. The brewery projects production of 130,000 bbl of beer in 2013.
