My Town: Movies in the Park promotes summer lineup through contest

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.—Downtown Grand Rapids Inc. is turning to local filmmakers, celebrities, officials and hometown heroes to hint to the lineup for this year’s Movies in the Park series.

DGRI released a video this week, hinting to the movies that will be featured in this year’s series.  Now through May 8, people who correctly name all of the films referenced in the video will be entered into a contest for a personal projector system to watch movies from the comfort of their home.  The survey contest is available here

The Movies in the Park series made its debut last year. DGRI is once again teaming up with Friends of Grand Rapids Parks for six nights of movie showings, on June 6, June 20, July 11, July 25, August 8 and August 22. The final night will include a double feature, with the first film chosen by public vote. Each movie is displayed on a 50-foot movie screen set up in Ah-Nab-Awen Park, along the Grand River.  The showings are free; visitors are encouraged to bring their own blanket and refreshments.
