ArtPrize reopens The Hub Store for holiday shopping

News Release:

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. Nov. 14, 2011 – The ArtPrize organization will re-open The HUB Store at 41 Sheldon Blvd., for the next six weeks to celebrate the holiday shopping season. The store opens at Noon on Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2011. Most of the store’s iconic merchandise has been marked down 40 percent.

“People in West Michigan really understand the importance of shopping locally and supporting organizations that enrich our community,” said Catherine Creamer, executive director of ArtPrize. “This is the first time ArtPrize has opened its store outside of the event, so it is an experiment, but we are optimistic the results will be great. Every purchase will help support art in our community.”

According to the 3/50 Project, a small-business advocacy group, for every $100 spent in locally owned, independent stores, $68 returns to the community. The impact is potentially even greater when the organization is a community-based non-project.

The ArtPrize Store will open Tuesday, Nov. 15 through Thursday, Dec. 22, 2011. The store will be generously staffed by volunteers and therefore closed Thanksgiving Day and Friday, Nov. 25.
