GRAND HAVEN, Mich. -- Cellist Dr. Pablo Mahave-Veglia will perform in concert on April 14 as part of the Loutit District Library’s Sunday Concert Series.

Dr. Mahave-Veglia’s program selections include: Étude No. 22, op. 73 by David Popper; Prelude from the Suite in G Major BWV 1027, Johann Sebastian Bach; Étude No. 34, op. 73, Popper; Cello Lines, Bill Ryan; Étude No. 17, op. 73, Popper; Suite No. 3 in C Major, BWV 1029, Bach; and Étude No. 20, op. 73, Popper.

This free concert begins at 2 p.m. on the library’s upper level lobby. Library officials are urging the public to come early due to limited seating. The Loutit District Library opens at 1 p.m. on Sundays.

Dr. Mahave-Veglia resides in Grand Rapids where he is an Associate Professor at Grand Valley State University. He is a cellist and teacher of broad interests whose repertoire ranges from the early baroque, performed on period instruments, to his ongoing interest in researching, performing and recording the work of contemporary Latin-American composers.

He performs on a five-string baroque cello made by Chilean Luthier Marcelo Cigna in 1986. He also performs on a late eighteenth century British cello in restored to period setup by Ian Watchorn in 2005. His modern instrument is a 1790 William Forster on loan to him by an anonymous private collector.

Dr. Mahave-Veglia has recorded for the Eroica, Centaur, Ghostly International and Innova labels.
