This course is designed to provide students with an introduction to various aspects of personal computing. Attention will be focused on understanding the basic hardware components, operating systems, how to use the mouse, and saving files to storage devices. If you are just beginning to use computers, start with this class before trying one of our other classes.

WMFVA Brings Actors In Front of Directors on Mar. 23rd

Actors interested in building their skills and seeing what is expected during a screen audition should attend the West Michigan Film Video Alliance's Headshot Roundup on Mar. 23rd at the Wealthy Theatre Koning Micro-Cinema, 1130 Wealthy SE, Grand Rapids.

A panel of local producers and directors will provide feedback as actors present a 1-minute memorized monologue (plus headshot and resume). This event is educational, and not considered a casting opportunity.

The roundup runs from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with doors open at 6:30 p.m.; $5 fee to the public, free for WMFVA members. Find out more by clicking here.

Grand Rapids Indy Movies Casting on Mar. 27th

Producers for two local movie productions will be looking for cast and crew at McFadden's Bar, at 58 Ionia SW, Grand Rapids, on Mar. 27th from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

"Greyhorn" is a zombie film casting main actors and zombies, multi-ethnic, ages 16 to 60 years old. Please bring a resume and headshot. "Dirty Bomb" from director Jason James, is an action-thriller casting all adult types. People with some experience in location sound, scripting, lighting, grip, or camera operation are invited; it's an ideal opportunity for film students looking for experience on a set.

CityFlats Hotel Job Fair on Mar. 14th

CityFlats Hotel will be holding a job fair on Monday, March 14 at the franchise's downtown Holland location at 61 East 7th St. Hotel administrators will be available to meet with potential candidates between 9:00am and 12:00pm and between 1:00pm and 4:00pm in the hotel's lobby.

Job fair attendees are encouraged to bring resumes and should be prepared to fill out an application. Applicants who meet position requirements will be contacted after the job fair to schedule interviews.

Eastown Veterinary Clinic Ground-Breaking Ceremony on Mar. 10th

Celebrate a ground-breaking ceremony for the Eastown Veterinary Clinic at 1350 Lake Dr. SE, Grand Rapids, at 10:00 a.m. on Mar. 10th. Construction will renovate the location's former bank branch into a 3,270 square-foot clinic, with 3 exam rooms, x-ray and ultrasound equipment, dental radiology, dog ward, waiting room, isolation room, treatment room, surgical suite and lab.

MSU chooses Hope Network as partner for med student rotations

Michigan State University’s College of Human Medicine and College of Osteopathic Medicine partner with Hope Network Rehabilitation Services for medical student rotations

GRAND RAPIDS, MICH. – Michigan State University and Hope Network have formed a partnership that will offer third-year medical students from both MSU’s College of Human Medicine, and MSU’s College of Osteopathic Medicine, four to eight weeks of rotation experience.  The first rotation begins this week, with one student participating.

Co-founded by Jason James and Attila Bokor, Michigan Film Reel's monthly Networking Event strives to engage the filmmaking community in supporting and developing moviemaking in Michigan. Held on the 3rd floor of McFaddens Bar in downtown Grand Rapids from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Mar.6th, the evening's special guest will be Dan Falicki, Director of GR30K, which premiered last year at the Thriller/Chiller film festival. Deb Havens from the West Michigan Film/Video Alliance will also speak about strategies to keep Michigan's Film Tax Incentives alive.
