EAST GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.—Registration is now open for people who want to break a sweat on Thanksgiving to help feed children in need.

This is the sixth year for the "Gobble Wobble," presented by Gazelle Sports.  The event takes place on Thanksgiving Day, November 28, at 8 a.m. at East Grand Rapids Middle School.

The adult event is a 4.1 mile fun run; children can take part in a 1 mile “Widdle Wobble.”  Last year, more than 2,000 people started off their holiday with the Gobble Wobble, raising $10,000 for Kids’ Food Basket, a non-profit organization focused on ending childhood hunger.

“It’s fun to see the community come together to take part in this event,” says Ashley Abbott, outreach and development coordinator for Kids’ Food Basket. “Kids’ Food Basket is 100 percent privately funded, so partners like Gazelle Sports allow us to make a difference in the community.”

The Gobble Wobble is not timed.  Runners, walkers, strollers and leashed dogs are welcome.

“It’s a great way to get the whole family, including out-of-town visitors, together to promote healthy living,” says race director Michelle Schiefen.

Organizers of the Gobble Wobble are bringing the post-run pie eating contest back again this year for five contestants looking to indulge.  All participants can enjoy donuts and cider from Robinette’s Apple Haus following the run.

Online registration is open until November 25.  The cost is $25 for adults and $10 for children ages 12 and under, and includes an event shirt.  Participants are also encouraged to bring donations to Kids’ Food Basket, including cracker packs, fruit juice boxes, and fruit, pudding and gelatin cups.
