What The Truck Fundraiser at The Meanwhile

From: Claire Fisher, East Hills Council of Neighbors

Nothing like a fundraiser where all you have to do is eat and drink to do some good. Come join us, and bring some friends!

The Meanwhile, voted Best Bar in Grand Rapids by On The Town readers, will be donating 30% of the night's sales to the WSBA. Enjoy the normal Monday specials, which include $3 Pitchers of PBR and $2 Bottles of Short's Pandemonium Pale Ale & Short's Bellaire Brown. Also on tap and in bottle is a vast variety o...f Michigan beers. On top of the normal specials, we are working on a special autumn-themed drink special for the evening.

"What the Truck" is a new venture from the folks that brought you The Winchester. This food truck will be parked by the Meanwhile, offering tacos and more--which you can eat inside The Meanwhile (or outside if you wish).

Cash donations give food pantries more options

GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) - When you think of making a donation to a food pantry you  may think of boxes of canned goods or dry cereal.  But as WZZM 13's Mike Roorda shows us in the attached video report, some local pantries say they would rather you donate something else entirely.

Inside ArtPrize

CEO's for Cities' Carol Coletta on ArtPrize

Last year, CEOs for Cities President Carol Coletta published an article in Good entitled, "What an ArtPrize in Michigan Can Teach Us About Building Better Cities." The article highlighted multiple lessons Coletta felt could be learned from the ArtPrize model including "the value of giving people permission to be entrepreneurial," "rapid prototyping," and decentralization:

"The competition makes it clear that the middle, once again, is threatened and may soon become obsolete. The middle, in the case of ArtPrize, are the arbiters of taste.
