3rd Annual Round Up at the Rink Fundraiser Tonight, November 14

The Van Andel Arena’s in-house food & beverage provider, along with the Grand Rapids Griffins are again participating in this special wishes event at tonight’s hockey game against the Texas Stars. Fans will be asked if they would like to round up their concession order at any concession stand to benefit this great cause and help make children’s wishes come true.

Ryan Rabinowitz, a freshmen at Novi High School in 2012 created this Round Up at the Rink fundraiser for the Make-A-Wish Foundation that fulfills wishes for children with life-threatening medical conditions. Ryan is a now a junior at Novi High School & plays for the varsity hockey team.

Girl Scouts to take part in Gerald R. Ford Tree Lighting tonight

Make it a point to stroll downtown this evening for the Annual Presidential Museum Tree Lighting Ceremony at 7pm at the Gerald R. Ford Museum at 303 Pearl St. NW in Grand Rapids, MI.

For the first time in its history, Girl Scouts, with Rockford Service Unit 322, will be included in  performing the Flag Ceremony at the outdoor event.

Immediately following the tree lighting, there will be live music, a sing-along and the announcement of the 2014 Community Tree Awards.

The Girls Scout of Michigan Shore to Shore, Goodwill Industries of Greater Grand Rapids, Goodwill Industries of West Michigan & Goodwill of Northern Michigan are teaming up to make this dress drive possible.

This campaign will make a difference for those giving & those receiving. Those giving, it will help clean out closets, which in-turn provides giving back to the community. So, donate your dresses to ANY Goodwill Industries of Greater Grand Rapids, West Michigan or Northern Michigan store through November 14.

Then, get social! Share the “Every Dress Has a Story” initiative with all your social networks. Post your commitment to this campaign with the hashtag #EveryDress & share a picture of the dress that you’re donating plus the story behind it.

Zombies Take Over Downtown Grand Rapids

Help benefit Michigan Blood’s, Be the Match Program with your participation in this famous Zombie Dash! This fun event is more than just a race. Its part 5K run, part obstacle course & part haunted house for the whole family to enjoy!

The 3rd Annual Zombie Dash takes place at Ah-Nab-Awen Park in downtown Grand Rapids on Saturday, October 25 with waves running from 6:30pm to 7pm, from sunset to darkness. The 5K course features the race pits “survivors” challenging the “undead” on a course along the Grand River. Don’t miss the excitement!

Cost for runners is $45 (kids 10 & under free with parent or guardian) and zombies “eat” for free.
