VSA's 21st Very Special Art Auction

For 21 years, VSA Michigan – Grand Rapids has hosted the Very Special Art Auction in support of disabling disabilities with art. Over 60 local artists will be featured as well as many unique non-art gifts.

This year, legendary Grand Rapids radio DJ, Tony Gates will lead the auction. "I am proud to help an organization that reaches out to others through art.” Says, Tony.

It's fall... And the most common thing people do in Michigan in the fall is go to an apple orchard and think about death. Well it's time to snap out of it Grand Rapids! That's why it's apropos I start writing about our vibrant and active comedy scene RIGHT NOW!!

So... Let's talk about the best kept comedy secret in GR.


This weekend at Dog Story is a show you do not want to miss... unless you are under 16 years of age and/or are unable to combine comedy and horror... I personally have not seen this show, but some very reliably funny sources tell me this show is a winner.

What The Truck Fundraiser at The Meanwhile

Nothing like a fundraiser where all you have to do is eat and drink to do some good. Come join us, and bring some friends!

The Meanwhile, voted Best Bar in Grand Rapids by On The Town readers, will be donating 30% of the night's sales to the WSBA. Enjoy the normal Monday specials, which include $3 Pitchers of PBR and $2 Bottles of Short's Pandemonium Pale Ale & Short's Bellaire Brown. Also on tap and in bottle is a vast variety o...f Michigan beers. On top of the normal specials, we are working on a special autumn-themed drink special for the evening.

"What the Truck" is a new venture from the folks that brought you The Winchester. This food truck will be parked by the Meanwhile, offering tacos and more--which you can eat inside The Meanwhile (or outside if you wish).

The Grand Rapids Choir of Men & Boys presents Music for Royal Occasions with special guest Dr. Neary

A parallel musical tribute to the Princess Diana Exhibition with music performed by The Grand Rapids Choir of Men & Boys and conducted by Dr. Martin Neary will be performed on Friday, November 5, 2010 at Cathedral of Saint Andrew (301 Sheldon Blvd SE Grand Rapids) beginning at 7:00pm. 

Dr. Neary sang as a chorister at the Queen’s Coronation, and when Organist of Westminster Abbey, he directed the music at the Royal Golden Wedding of Princess Diana and Prince Charles, as well as at Princess Diana’s Funeral in 1997. He will be sharing his experiences and stories regarding the Royal Family between songs.

This is a free concert.
