A simple way to stay Cool in the hot weather

A simple way to stay Cool in the hot weather

Recently we have heard numerous people tell us how to avoid heat exhaustion with all the high temperatures we have been having. It’s true that these high temps have not been around since the late 1980’s.

One thing I thought of, as a hint for keeping cool for so many people, whether they are young or older, is to partially fill a bucket, basin, or anything that will hold  water. Fill the container part way, sit down and put your feet into the water. Everyone knows that when your feet are either too hot or too cold, your whole body also feels just that way.

This is a quick and inexpensive way to cool down. Give it a try!

One Drug to Treat them All

One Drug to Treat them All

If he was not already busy running his company researching and designing drugs to treat Alzheimer’s, depression and traumatic brain injury, Dr. Mark Gurney would give Jonathan Goldsmith a run for his money as "the most interesting man in the world."

He was named one of the two leading inventors in the world in the creation of patents to treat Alzheimer’s disease.
He commuted weekly for four years from Grand Rapids to Iceland and modestly mentions that he introduced “beer-can chicken” to his Icelandic colleagues.

Cherry Street Health Services to develop health center in Wyoming

Cherry Street Health Services to develop health center in Wyoming

On June 20, 2012, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Secretary, Kathleen Sebelius, announced nearly $129 million in Health Center new access point funding. Sebelius made the announcement during a stop at Covenant Community Care, a health center located in Detroit. This Affordable Care Act funding will establish new health center sites to care for an additional 1.25 million people in communities across the country.

Cherry Street Health Services here in Kent County is one of six Michigan organizations that have been awarded funding, which will provide $566,667 annually, enabling them to develop a health center in Wyoming. “We are very appreciative of this major investment in expanding the ability of Health Centers to increase access to primary and preventive care in the City of Wyoming,” said Chris Shea, Chief Executive Officer of Cherry Street Health Services.
