Stamp Out Hunger food drive in West Michigan | News
GRAND RAPIDS, (WZZM) -- Local letter carriers participated in the Stamp Out Hunger drive on Saturday.
Households across West Michigan donated bags of non-perishable food items by leaving them for their carriers to pick up.
The food goes to the Feeding America West Michigan Food Bank, which will distribute the food to local pantries.
Saturday's drive allows them to feed people throughout the year.
CEO Ken Estelle says they are grateful for the time postal carriers give.
Feeding America collected nearly 200,000 pounds of food in 2012. Organizers expect to collect the same amount again this year.
