GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) -- Girl Scouts sell and estimated 200 million boxes of cookies each year. Monday, the Girl Scouts of Michigan Shore to Shore is holding a cookie conference in Grand Rapids where more than 300 scouts will talk about the latest in flavors, ingredients, tips and trends.

"Because this is the largest girl led organization in the world we are teaching girls ages 5 to 18 how to be CEO's. They learn budgeting, time management, businesses ethnics and handling money," said Jennifer Wilson, Vice President of Philanthropy and Brand. "As they sell their cookies they learn essential skills. They learn to become courageous leaders and that they can be their own bosses."

There are close to a dozen different varieties of girl scout cookies and a new one comes out every year. During the conference, they will discuss the newest cookie which will be unveiled in this fall.

"We will learn what the newest cookie will be today," said Wilson. "We have a cookie for everyone. Thin Mints account for more than 25% . We even have gluten free now. Our local council piloted that this year. It is not out nationwide yet, but will be soon."

Girl Scouts of Michigan Shore to Shore sells about one million cookies each year. You can find more about girl scout cookies on the Girl Scouts of Michigan Shore to Shore website.
