Is St. Cecilia's Music Society haunted?

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WZZM) - Unexplained sights and sounds inside the St. Cecilia Music Society

complex have some suspecting the 120 year old building in downtown Grand Rapids may be haunted.

Lights mysteriously turn on and off. Unusual sounds and voices are heard. A white mist is seen hovering above certain seats in the theatre.

The St. Cecilia stories go back for years.

But staff, performers and patrons say if there are ghosts, they don't seem dangerous.

"I don't think they have any desire to harm anyone," says Kent Philharmonic Orchestra president Tim Kernosky. "If anything, I think they want to contribute to the beautiful music that is made here."

"I like to think positive," says Mariea Macavei of the St. Cecilia event staff. "That they are good and had some kind of experience at St. Cecilia and this is their home."

A group called "Ghost Paranormal Investigations inspected St. Cecilia a few years ago.

They say they observed activity "well above normal," and while they don't like to claim any location is haunted, they say St. Cecilia's is close.
