GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) -- Investigators say a motorcycle driver that led Michigan State Police on a chase is in the hospital after crashing in Grand Rapids.

Troopers say they tried to pull the man over for speeding on U.S. 131 near Burton Street, but the rider took off.

The man eventually hit a roundabout at College Avenue and Pleasant Street, throwing him from the bike.

Police say the man was wearing a helmet when he crashed. The suspect is said to be in stable condition at a Grand Rapids hospital.

Investigators don't know whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the incident.
