Family Promise of Grand Rapids announces $2 million campaign
News

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WZZM) -- A local group dedicated to ending homelessness held a special celebration Thursday for its new home -- and new fundraising campaign.

Family Promise of Grand Rapids cut the ribbon at its new home on Cherry Street, just east of College Avenue.
Leaders of the organization also laid out plans for their $2 million dollar fundraising campaign, "A Journey Home."

Family Promise has received gifts from more than 100 significant foundations, corporations, and organizations throughout the community, who have helped raise more than $1.6 million, to date, to help expand programs to serve homeless families with children in West Michigan and finance a new home for Family Promise.

"This has been an absolutely amazing experience for Family Promise, the families we serve, our leadership, and for our donors, friends, and supporters," said Cheryl Schuch, Executive Director of Family Promise. "We started earlier this year with a dream and a goal, and here we are today, working in our new facility which is allowing us to serve twice as many people. The generosity of this community is incredibly humbling."

The new facility provides 10,000 square feet, including office space, Day Center space for families in shelter, meeting rooms to support rapid rehousing, emergency shelter work and home-ownership programs. In addition, the new space provides more privacy for families, barrier free accessibility, and a respite room for napping and children.
