GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WZZM) -- The Van Andel Arena has announced changes to its bag policy for Friday night's sold out show.

In a press release Thursday, the arena said patrons will only be allowed to bring in clear, plastic or vinyl bags that don't exceed the size of a one gallon Ziploc bag or small purses (4″ x 11″ maximum) without straps.

The policy is only tightened for the Zac Brown Band concert, an adjustment a spokesperson told WZZM 13 was requested by the tour.

"We work with different bands that come through and they each have different riders and the tour decided they wanted everybody ti have a really good time," says Van Andel Arena Director of Marketing Lynne Ike, "We've had policies where people were wanded with metal detectors, we've had situations where kids would come with the dog collar with the spikes on it and that's not allowed. So every band is a little different so we just go with what they want. They're renting the building, we implement their procedure."

The Van Andel Arena will return to its existing bag policy afterward, allowing patrons to bring purses, day packs, diaper bags and other small bags.

Doors for the concert will open at 5:30 p.m., 90 minutes before to the concert to allow time for the extra security.
