ArtPrize entry honors Pres. Gerald Ford

GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM)- Grand Rapids' favorite son will also be a part of ArtPrize this year.  An artist from Thailand, who was part of the Top 25 last year, has submitted a sculpture called "President Gerald Ford Visits ArtPrize."  It is located at the PNC Bank building at Monroe and Pearl St.

The piece features a full body sculpture of President Ford looking at a bronze bust of himself.  The artist received permission from the late First Lady Betty Ford to create the piece, though she did not get to see the finished product.

As a tribute to President Ford's wife, the artist will also sculpt Mrs. Ford in clay during each day of ArtPrize.

While you are at ArtPrize make sure to stop by the WZZM 13 Conversation Couch.  It opens Wednesday night and is inside the Rosa Parks Circle Warming Station right next to the Grand Rapids Art Museum.

While there, you can record a video answering the question, "What is art?" We will then post the videos on our website.  You can watch them by clicking on this link.
