BYRON CENTER, Mich. (WZZM) - Catholic Central's Donald Sund recorded a hat trick as the Cougars downed Grandville 5-1 at Grand Rapids Edge Ice Arena.
Sund opened the scoring late in the first on a centering pass from Josh Berry.
Catholic Central (7-1-1) added a pair of power play goals to open the second.
Hunter Jerenou blasted a slap shot from the left point to make it 2-0 Cougars, before Sund added his second goal of the game, beating a screened Sean Schemeiser.
Grandville (1-8) answered when Corey Giffel scored on a breakaway to cut the lead to 3-1.
But Sund would complete the hat trick with a shorthanded goal off a two-on-one rush.
