GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) - Grand Rapids police say a man is dead after being shot during a possible road rage incident. He has been identified as Lance Byers, an employee with Michigan's Department of Human Services.

The shooting happened near the intersection of Lafayette Avenue and State Street SE in Grand Rapids shortly after 8:00 am Tuesday.

Police say they're looking for a man and a woman who fled the area in a black Lincoln Navigator or similar large sport utility vehicle.

A witness, who did not want to be identified, told WZZM 13 News he was stopped at the intersection when he saw people in the two cars arguing out on the street.

"They argued for a little bit until the guy in the black SUV started to get heated up and started getting in the guy's face and the guy in the silver car basically just pushed 'em away and then tried to turn around that's when we heard the gunshot."

Anyone with information is asked to call Silent Observer at 616-774-2345 or GRPD at 456-3604.
