GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) - Police have made an arrest nearly one year after a shooting at Grand Rapids Fourth of July fireworks display.
Investigators with the Metropolitan Area Major Case Task Force say Devontae Collier, 20, shot two people in the crowded Rosa Parks Circle as the fireworks were ending. Both victims had minor gunshot wounds to the leg.
Collier is already in the Kent County Jail on unrelated charges. He is serving a one year sentence in connection with the shooting of a youth pastor in January at the Streams of Hope Community center in Kentwood.
Investigators say Collier and several other teens opened fire when the youth pastor refused to let them into a party.
Collier is charged with Assault with Intent to Do Great Bodily Harm Less Than Murder and being a Habitual Offender, this third offense.
