Time to vote for your favorite 'Grandwich' | News

GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM)- If you like unique foods, this is your chance to taste a lot of new sandwiches. The Grandwich competition in Grand Rapids pits 27 different sandwiches against each other for the title of "Grandwich."

Voting in the competition started Monday, July 23, 2012. Some people are already indicating they plan to try to taste all of the 27 entries.

Nicole Weichelt of the Downtown Alliance says this is a good way to get people downtown, and to encourage them to try new restaurants.

This is the second year for the Grandwich competition. Last year, the "G-wrap" from Bobarino's won.

The first round of voting continues until August 13. From August 14 to 17, you can vote for your favorite among the top ten. And on August 17, the winner will be announced at GRAM on the Green at the Grand Rapids Art Museum.

New to this year's competition, at least one ingredient in every sandwich has to be from a local farm or producer.
