GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM)- Boy Scouts from the President Ford Council, Boy Scouts of America, will salute the American flag from sunup to sundown on this 9/11 anniversary.
It's a tradition that began the year after the terrorist attacks, and has continued each year since.
The event is held at the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library on the banks of the Grand River in downtown Grand Rapids.
Scout leaders say it's a good way to remember the victims of the 9-11 attacks, as well as a chance to educate young boy scouts, many of whom were not alive at the time of the attacks.
The salute starts at 7:15 a.m. and lasts until 7:46 p.m.
A ceremony will begin at 8:46 a.m., the time the first plane hit the World Trade Center.
