GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM)- As the annual ArtPrize competition nears, artists are busy getting their pieces ready for display.

That includes construction of one of the entries, on the Gillette pedestrian bridge over the Grand River.

Edward Casagrande, the artist behind the piece called Bridging Humanity says, "It is basically going to be defined by two gates -- east and west end -- and everyone in between those gates are going to be the slice of humanity we are going to play well with."

For each vote for his sculpture Country Fresh Foods will give a donation to Feeding America West Michigan.

ArtPrize is September 19- October 7, 2012.
