GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) - The WZZM 13 "dArtPrize" dart landed on Bostwick and Crescent, NE Friday morning. It's not full of ArtPrize art, but its buildings and downtown views are beautiful year round.
The area is in the shadow of Spectrum Butterworth and DeVos Children's Hospitals, as well as the Van Andel Institute. Grand Rapids Community College is right nearby as well.
GRCC student Carolyn Cepaitis says the area is "quiet, it's convenient, it's always well kept...nice view, great view." Crescent Park offers stunning views of the city, as well as a peaceful place to study, nap, or have lunch.
Spectrum Butterworth is hosting a small ArtPrize venue in one of its busy hallways on the first floor. It's primarily paintings, although a piece made of felt and thread called "The Workers Paradise" caught the attention of Ilah Henderson of Kalamazoo.
"These are really nice, colorful and cheerful - it's nice to see something uplifting when people have serious, serious problems," Henderson said. She was visiting the hospital with Bonnie Bonnes, whose husband is a patient at the Meijer Heart Center.
Across Michigan Street, inside the food court, is another small ArtPrize venue, but the most stunning scenes in the area are the new medical buildings themselves, sleek, stylish and gleaming in the September sun.
