Inside the half marathon with Team Triumph

GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM)-Thousands of athletes raced through Grand Rapids Sunday as part of the Metro Health Grand Rapids Marathon.

This year's race course was new, taking runners through downtown Grand Rapids then out of the city and onto the trails of Millennium Park. Among this year's athletes was Team Triumph, comprised of runners who take veterans and people with disabilities along for the race.

"We hope it's an inspiration for everyone," said Andy Fry, who finished the half marathon pushing Andrew Mikula. "I really want to make sure that everyone has the ability to enjoy what we do every day. And the smiles we see on people's faces-Andrew was giving us cheers the whole way-I mean it really means as much to us as it does to them."

Team Triumph started as an organization in Grand Rapids four years ago. Since then, branches have opened up nationwide.
