Byron Center, Mich. (WZZM) - What's left of one of the oldest businesses in downtown Grand Rapids sits in a warehouse in Byron Center.
This week, 853 pairs of shoes and some office equipment from Van Hoecks Shoes will go on the auction block.
The business, which had been open in Grand Rapids for around 70 years, closed for good last year.
The online auction is Tuesday, but bidders will get to see the merchandise taken out of the store Monday.
"The bank had contacted us and Van Hoek was very cooperative about this," said Duane Mingerink with Repocast.com. "They said to the bank, please come and pick it up. We're in a leased building, we need to get out by the end of the month, so basically we came in and picked it all up and moved it to our warehouse."
The preview at the Byron Center warehouse begins at eight Monday morning. The warehouse is located at 601 Gordon Industrial Court. The online auction begins at eight Tuesday morning at repocast.com.
More than 160,000 people have already registered to bid in the auction.
