UPDATE: Grand Rapids goes 'Gaga' for pop star, Lady Gaga | News
GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) - Pop music superstar, Lady Gaga will be in Grand Rapids tonight. She's performing at the Van Andel Arena to a sold out show, and already a line is forming outside the arena for fans with general admission seating.
The tour stop is the first leg of The Monster Ball Tour, which Gaga described as "the first-ever pop-electro opera."
On Stub Hub, tickets to Tuesday's concert range from $175 to $1,700.
Lady Gaga's tour stop in Grand Rapids comes one day after the debut of the video for her new single, "Born This Way."
Lady Gaga fans were given an opportunity to get "Gagafied" Monday at "Cheeky Strut" Salon in downtown Grand Rapids. The salon offered three separate packages to choose from, depending what level you wanted to look like the pop icon.
"As soon as people started hearing about it, we booked up pretty quickly," said Kaite Lyn Christoffersen, owver of Cheeky Strut. "They [customers] could get anything done from just hair or makeup to sunglasses decorated with charms and gems."
Melanie Krueger from Hudsonville was one of several people who decided in order to SEE Gaga, she had to BE Gaga.
"I have to get used to this eyelash thing," said Krueger as her stylist was attaching the large Lady Gaga eyelashes to her eye lids. "I can't believe all the stuff Lady Gaga goes through; this is rough."
When Melanie's "Gagafication" was complete, she looked in the mirror and said, "This is like I'm on stage with her. Lady Gaga, here I come."
Kaite Lyn Christoffersen says the Cheeky Strut was booked solid "Gagafying" concert-goers from 9 o'clock Tuesday morning until they closed.
