The quaint century-old cottage that has been Windsor Cottage (2899 Thornapple River Dr. SE, Grand Rapids) for the past 26 years overflows with gently-used home accessories and luxury furniture. That fact, and a booming global Internet business, inspired owner Rick Santamaria to open a second location in a historic English Tudor mansion between Brewery Vivant and Maru Sushi & Grill.

The mansion (923 Cherry St. SE) was built originally as a funeral home and is part of a project by Grand Rapids-based Locus Development to revitalize the mansion, a chapel and carriage house next door (Brewery Vivant), and to add new construction (Maru Sushi).

been hired as our Executive Chef.  Drew, most recently was at Brasserie Vivant as their Executive

Chef and has work under some of the best Chefs in the country, most notably Chef Thomas Keller at Per

Se in New York and at the James Bird House in NYC under Chef Kirsten Dixon participating with her on

“Iron Chefs” television show.  He has also studied abroad at Chateau La Gatte in France and has also

studied under bartenders and mixologist Gary Regan and Dale DeGroff.  He attended Art Institute of

Dominican Center at Marywood Art Gallery is displaying the works of Mic Carlson and Joachim Lally, CSP through the month of December. Most of the works are available for purchase. Come meet the artists on Sunday, December 9 from 1:00 - 4:00 pm at Dominican Center at Marywood.


Mic Carlson was born and raised in Grand Rapids.  He is an eclectic artist whose passions for life and art are vividly seen in his colorful paintings. He started his art career painting portraits. In 1999 Mic began painting depictions on the life of St. Francis. In 2001 Mic was inspired to work with wax, shaping it into the form of St. Francis.
