Interstate 196 will close under Fuller Avenue for bridge work 9 p.m. this Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, October 31.  Through-traffic will be reduced to one lane and exit at Fuller Avenue and re-enter I-196 using the Fuller Avenue entrance ramps. Westbound I-196 traffic will have access to northbound Fuller Avenue, and eastbound I-196 traffic will have access to southbound Fuller Avenue.

The work is weather dependent (no rain, cold temps, etc.)

Southbound Fuller Avenue over I-196 is closed, and northbound Fuller Avenue will remain open with access to both ramps until 6:30 a.m. Saturday, October 15 (tomorrow).

Both directions of Fuller Avenue will close over I-196 tomorrow (Saturday) at 6:30 a.m. through 6 a.m. Monday, October 17.

During the full closure, southbound Fuller Avenue will have access to the ramp to westbound I-196, and northbound Fuller Avenue will have access to the ramp to eastbound I-196.

The leaves are nearing their peak color in West Michigan.  You don’t have to go far to catch the fall colors.  One beautiful tour starts in Grand Rapids and takes you through Rockford, Cedars Springs and Coopersville.

Color Tour Directions Starting from Grand Rapids

North on East Beltline (M-44), turns into Northland Dr through Rockford to Cedar Springs. West on M-46, south on CR-B35 (Ravenna Rd) through Ravenna to Coopersville. Left on Randall Rd, right on 48th Ave. I-96 east back to Grand Rapids.

Fuller Avenue will close over Interstate 196 for setting bridge beams at 9 p.m. tonight until 6 a.m. tomorrow.

Fuller Avenue detour use Leonard Street, College Avenue and Michigan Street.

To access westbound I-196, use the College Avenue interchange.

To access eastbound I-196/I-96, follow Michigan street east to M-44 (East Beltline Avenue), north on M-44 to I-96.  Or follow Leonard Street east to the entrance ramp to eastbound I-96.

A left lane closure for pavement repair will be in place until 6 p.m. Thursday, September 15 on northbound US-131 from Ann Street to westbound I-96/Alpine Avenue.
