Photo Gallery | Animal Shelter Gets Special Gift from Kentwood Kids

This time of year, while many of us are celebrating, there are many furry friends waiting for a home at the Kent County Animal Shelter.  A group of about 20 second grade students from Meadowlawn Elementary School in Kentwood didn’t want those pets to “go without” this holiday season.

Tuesday, the class delivered two bags full of filled with balls, chew toys, treats and more!  The students also wrote letters to potential pet adopters.  Some pictures of the toys and treats are attached.

Adoptions can be made at 740 Fuller Ave NE, Grand Rapids.  You can see pets M-F from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. until noon, but all adoptions must be made one hour before the shelter closes.  The shelter will be closed December 23-26, and January 2 for the holidays.

Our shelter just had an immensely successful adoption special.  After teaming up with Vicky's Pet Connection for the "Home for the Holidays" special, 9 cats and 16 dogs found new homes!  Call the shelter at 616.632.7300 for information on adoptions or donations.
